Chi Gung

A big part of Learning at Herts Tai Chi is the practice of Standing Chi Gung. Without doubt Standing Chi Gung contains in it’s simple format, the most powerful type of  exercise you will find on the planet.

To develop softness allied with internal strength you must add Standing or Static Chi Gung to your Tai Chi practice. Static Chi Gung alone, can develop internal strength. Static Chi Gung practiced alongside Tai Chi, develops dynamic strengh.

Strong relaxed posture

 There are many individual Movements, Forms and Sets of Moving Chi Gung which can develop your energy in different ways. At Herts Tai Chi, at beginner level, we practice both Static Chi Gung and Moving Chi Gung. The moving Chi Gung is used to develop the pleasurable sensitivity that comes from soft relaxed movements.

A new Course in 2018


A 5 month Saturday Chi Gung and Self Healing Course in St Albans

 10am – 6pm

The course will run on 5 separate Saturdays:-

Sept 15

Oct 20

Nov 17

The course will be held at Oaklands College, The Sepsed Room, The Manor House, Oaklands Campus, Hatfield Road, St Albans Al4 0JA

During the course we will practice and learn one or more sets of Chi Gung. With the correct approach and regular use of these exercises, physical balance can be enhanced, conditions such as high blood pressure and hypertension can be effected positively.

In addition to the Chi Gung we will use processes to help us de-stress and rejuvenate our bodies and our minds. During the course we will use some or all of the following:

  • Shaking and breathing, which breaks down patterns of muscular tension in your body and relaxes your mind.
  • Flow Writing – to help you release negative thoughts and feelings.
  • Movement & Expression – to bring awareness and release tension from your body.
  • Self Massage – which can improve your blood circulation, help release traumas and improve your overall well being.
  • Massage – for healing.
  • Communication- enhancing communication skills and listening techniques.

The cost of the course is £400.
